I want to share a story about a single mother that refused to accept rejection. She was living on government assistance, barely able to maintain a roof over her head. She had typed a 320 page manuscript for a children’s book. Since she didn’t even have enough money to pay for photocopies, she painstakingly re-typed all 320 pages every time she submitted it to a publisher. One publisher after another rejected her book. “Too long.” “Written for the wrong audience.” “Children’s books don’t make money.” Twelve submissions, twelve rejections. Then, the chairman of a small publishing house handed the first three chapters of the manuscript to his eight-year old daughter.…

You’ve probably heard numerous people, myself included, declare that your thoughts create your reality. So why haven’t you received that raise, the promotion, or attained the weight goal on which you’ve been so focused? Because having just an image of what you want is simply not enough. Instead, you must not only create a mental picture of exactly what you want, but you must simultaneously produce the feelings associated with that desire. So many of us worry about our jobs, we worry about our businesses. The challenge is that worrying doesn’t give us job security or keep business moving forward. Worrying causes stress and sleepless nights. If instead of worrying you used your energy to make yourself indispensable, you would gain confidence.
