Leave No Regrets

family
We all have things we have done in life that we regret, things that we want to do that we have never done, things we should have said but didn’t, people we treated poorly that didn’t deserve it.

Is there someone in your life, that if they died tonight, you would have regrets for things you left unsaid? Pick up the phone, go to their house, or send them a note. Leave no regrets.

Ideally we want to eliminate negativity from our lives but we must accept that there are situations when it’s unavoidable. You can’t pick your family, you often don’t have control of who is selected to be a coworker.…

How Much Is Enough?

Success in western culture centers on excess–millions of dollars, giant houses, multiple exotic cars. While none of us would complain about having these things, does there come a point where more doesn’t make things better? Maybe the question should be how much is enough?

I’m convinced that somewhere along the way, we reach a place of diminishing returns; accumulating more ceases to drive significant incremental happiness. For the last 9 months I have been renovating and furnishing a house. My wife and I have broken every personal spending record for our American Express Card. At first, it was exciting when the Amazon boxes would arrive.…

Manifestation

We all have things we want to achieve, places we want to go, and things we’d like to have. The question is, are we as effective as we can be in our manifestation process? How effective are you at bringing what you want into your life? I want to discuss a few ways to sharpen your manifestation ax.

Understand that manifestation is a series of disciplined decisions followed by actions. There are some straightforward concepts that if followed, will move you toward fulfilling your desires.

1. Stop wanting and start believing. Wanting things doesn’t help you get them. Instead of focusing on the want, concentrate on your belief that it will happen.…

Things I’ve Learned the Hard Way

I’m now in my 48th year on the planet and like most people at this stage of life, there are a few things I’ve learned the hard way.

1. Few people recover completely from deep-rooted emotional trauma. Early in my adult life I was involved with a woman that had major emotional challenges growing up. These were the types of challenges that could land you on an Oprah episode. I thought I could be the knight in shining armor. After all, I had an idyllic upbringing and I thought I could help her. I learned that these types of issues don’t go away.…

Give

I recently moved and my wife decided to replace the majority of our furniture. An acquaintance mentioned that she knew a nice man with four daughters and limited means. We asked if he would be interested in two bedrooms worth of furniture. He proceeded to come and pick up everything. We called him a again after we realized we had a few additional items. When he arrived for the second load he told us how excited his girls were. They looked forward to going to sleep each night and they even took turns sleeping in the top bunk. I think I got as much from the exchange as his family did.…

Quality of Life

yoga
In our lifetime we get one body. If you abuse the one you have, there are repercussions.
Lung cancer is a horrible disease. It is the single largest preventable cause of death and disease in the United States. If you are lucky enough to survive it, you’ve endured a brutal battle. We know that if you are a heavy smoker (two packs a day) there is a 40% chance that you will develop lung cancer. That will dramatically change your quality of life. We can make similar claims about excessive alcohol consumption.

While moderating our exposure to things that will harm the body is important, there are some proactive steps we can take to increase the probability of maintaining a high quality of life:
1.…
