Last week we talked about the concept of riding the wave as a metaphor for how to live a fulfilling life. The point I made is that you first have to get present in the moment and accept what is. Once you are in the moment it is important to tune into your environment. Think of your environment as the current in the ocean. You can navigate in the direction you would like to go but you must do so within the framework of the current. I am writing this on my flight back to Florida from an annual ski trip I do with a group of friends. I just realized that I haven’t thought about work in 5 days. The office drama, the things I need to get done, the issues, I haven’t thought about any of them. Most of us spend the majority of our waking lives working.
